You see, when, in the course of humnu ovents, the polioy. of a government, in its trans? cendental relations with the political economics of a Stute, becomes imbued with tho spectral analysis of abnormal influences, infringing upon the perpetu? ity of institutions at once detrimental sud nugatory to the abstruse interests of theocracy, why, theu, a deceut respect for the opinions of mankind requires the promulgation of a popular analytical manifesto, iu which * * * * In short-, a plebiscite' is plainly a 'plebis? cite;' or, iu other words, it is French for 'Shoo fly, dou't bodder me.' There 1" THE FATAL SHIHT-IT CAUSES THE DEATH OF SIX PEKSONS.-From a physi? cian practicing iu Kentucky, we obtain the following detuils of a singularly tra? gic st?ry: "A short time ago, n white man living near Hopkinsville, hud nu attack ot Bm?ll-pox. He was not very neat in his habits, or else he had poor nursing, ns he did not chango his shirt during his entire illness. When convalescent, he gave the garment to n negro woman, with the injunction to bury it deep in the ground, fur fear of communicating the dreadful disease to others. But aunty was of a utilitarian turn, and thought it a siu to throw away so good a shirt, while there was many backs to cover. So she subjected it to n careless sort, of washing, aud presented it to her husband, who appeared at church the next Sunday io all tho glory of a 'biled shirt.' The next day, he was seized with small-pox, aud died soon after-and so did five others, who successively came into possession of this garment of death." Tho above statement is vouched for by our informant, and we give it ns told us. It may be truly remarked that the shirt was more terribly fatal than tho fabled garment of Nessus, for tho latter termi? nated the career of but one victim - Hercules-while the former brought six loyal voters to aa untimely grave. \Nashville Banner. By their father's death they come into pos? session of the "casket" of diamonds, of which a thrilling history is given in that novel. The casket was presented to their mother by the Empresa Josephine, aud is actually worth ouly $10,000, although represented by Sue as being worth S3, 000,000.
