Percussion caps were ingeni ojsly filled and slightly raised from the surface, so that in falling upon any bard substance, the maohiue is nearly certain to explode. A ring is attached to the periphery, to aid in throwing the missile adroitly. LaFrance says the recently discovered conspiracy makes the amnesty of forty-two . persons, now in custody, improbable. There has been some dis? order, but no violence at meetings. CHARLESTON, May 8.-Au Agricultural and Immigrant Convention, called by the South Carolina Institute, met to-day, at the Aoademy of Music. Delegates consist of planters, bankers, jourualists, merchants, manufacturers aud leading mechanics, embracing raauy of the most distinguished men of this State, Georgia and North Caroliua. The chief object of the Convention is to devise a system of immigration whioh will seenro reliable foreign labor. Gen. Johnson Hagood was chosen President. After organiza? tion, Committees were appointed on Immigration, Direct Trade, Cotton, Ma? nufactures, Hygienic, Agricultural and Educational Labor; Resources and In? dustrial Resuroes. Reports from those bodies are looked to with interest, as they are expected to givo valuable and practical suggestions. Tho Couvention then adjourned until to-morrow. ATLANTA, May 3.-Both Houses met at 10. In the Sonate, nothing of gene? ral interest occurred. In the House, Prioe called up tho resolution to seat members not elected uuder Gen. The twenty-first annual meeting of tho American Medical Association convened to-day.
