Captain Heine, an American in Pe? arns, claims to have discovered a route across Darien superior to all other routes, and by which he can pass from Aepiu wall to Panama entirely by water. FATAL NEGRO CONFLICT.-An alterca? tion took place Sunday, at Pleasant Val? ley, near Winsted, Conn., between two negroes named Dolphin nod Freeman. The affair grew out of a desire to settle the question as to which of the two was the strongest. The contest had a serious conclu sion, Freeman being killed by Dolphin. While Freeman wus being pounded by Dolphin, tbe latter's wife interfered to prevent murder, and Dol? phin turned on her, beutiug her with a stone-jug and chair, until her lower jaw was broken. Mr. St. John waa also en badly injured about the head and face that it is doubtful if he recovers. Thomas D. Carr was executed at St. Claireville, Ohio, yesterday afternoon for the murder of Miss Louisa Fox, his affianced, overa year ago. The murder was ono of peculiar atrocity. It Curr may be believed, he was one of the greatest murderers of his time. He boasted of having perpetrated fourteen cold-blooded murders and of having Attempted five others. ACTUALLY WHIPPING THE WORLD ! - Again, at Selma, Alu., the sister States of South Carolina aud Georgia, led on by Edgefield, have triumphed in the Game Cook arena. Out of the main of twenty one fights, the Edgefield cocks won fifteen, the Alabama cocks, six. No undecided business that i [Edgefield Advertiser. A fire took place Monday evening at Castle Garden, resulting in damages, to the extent of $30.000; fully insured. Towards night the fire broke out ?gain, but was extinguished. "Advertised for the benefit of a few inquisitive friends," is appended to a Baltimore marriage notice. If St. Patrick had lived until this year he would have been 1498 years old.
