The Priuco was mach excited during the delivery of this argument. Leroux and Demage, coun? sel for the defence, botb denounced the Marseillaise. The Court will meet at noon to-morrow, when a verdict is ex? pected. Prince Bonaparte was acquitted in spite of the strong appeal made by the Proonreur-General for a verdict of guilt, with extenuating circumstances. The jury was ont only nn hour. As soou as tho verdict was announced, 100,0001. were claimed on a civil Buit, in consequence of whioh the Prince remains iu custody. The Prince is exceedingly indignnnt at the restraint and menace against his life. MADRID, March 27.-Senor Becerra, Minister of the Colonies, declared in the Cortes that the Captuin-General had been instructed to order an election in Cuba for deputies, if the situation per? mits. WASHINGTON, March 27.-Boutwcll di? rects tho sale of $2.000.000 gold in April, and the purchase of $2,000,000 bonds on account of tho sinking fund, and $2,000, 000 bonds on account of the special fund. WASHINGTON, March 28.-Butler has been notified that his yellow nomiuee to West Point is too young. A largo number of unimportant bills have boen introduced in both houses. McKenzie presented ono to incorporate the Southern Trans-continental Railroad. In the Senate, Drake inquired the reason of the delay of the Judiciary Committee in reporting the Texas bill. Trumbull replied, it would be useless, while the Georgia and Ames questions were still undisposed of; besides, there were pro? visions in the Texas Constitution and in the House bill, requiring careful consid? eration. The President pays taxes on $110,000; and Sherman on $23,000 in this County. In the Supreme Court to-day, decisions were rendered in the following cases: Bigelow vs. DeForest; in a case against the banks of Kentueky; in a case from Louisiana, that the Legislature may by Act, alienate the property of minors. Internal revenue receipts to-day, near? ly $750,000. Peter J. Ralph was nominated super? visor of steamboats, of the Eighth Dis? trict. Boutwell recommends that the Trea? sury buildings this year should not exceed five; none of which are South. In the Seuate, South Carolina negroes petition for an appropriation for Wilber? force College, Ohio. Resolutions from the Iowa Legislature, sympathizing with Coba, were preseuted. Revels intro? duced a bill granting the right of way to the New Orleans and North Eastern Rail? way Company. The Senate then wont into executive session, but without ac? tion, adjourned. In the House, bills were introduced to improve the harbor of the mouth of Cape Fear River; to prevent the co.lec? tion of illegal fees from passengers through States; also, by McKenzie, in? corporating and granting lands to the Trans-Continetal Railroad Company; ntso, granting lands to Alabama for the construction of the Selma and Gulf Railroad. The House refused to second tho bill taxing interest on Federal bonds; also, a resolution dedaring in favor of reading the Bible in schools. Schurz spoke against the San Domingo treaty to-day. O'Neill is organizing for a descent upon Canada at three points. Large quantities of arms and ammuni? tion are said to bo stored near at hand. The Alaska has arrived, bringing news o' the conspiracy against the Govern? ment being broken up by tho arrest of a few persons at Punama, who were re? leased upon taking tho oath of allegiance. Valparaiso letters represent Lopez's cause hopeless. His few adherents suffer great misery, and many are deserting. A Panama letter says Capt. Hain, an American, who claims to know a route across Darien superior to all other routes, by which he can pass from Aspinwall to Panama eutirely bj water, has chartered a small sail boat at Aspinwall, to be de? livered at Panama, and gono to Caledo? nia Bay. Official dispatches from Baez, an? nouncing the result of the San Domiugo election, have not yet reached Washing? ton, but are en roule, via Havana, and expected shortly. BALTIMORE, March 27.-Tho schooner Oertie Lewis, arrived ff otu. Nassau, re ports that the authorities have soized tho steamer Salvador for violation of the Passenger Ant, Sue waacoudeaiued aud sold and bough t by Government for $100, 000. The Spanish gunboat Condi Devan dito was ashore off Nassau, but got off with some damage. The Lewis brought fi vo of the crew of the Lillian, consigned to the Cuban Junta, New York. NEW YORK. March 28. -An unfinished house blew down yesterday, crushing an adjoining tenement and killing Benjamin Donnelly, his wife and four children. .BALTIMORE, March 28.-Twenty build? ings have been blowu down. The sloop Caroline was sunk in the back basin. No other marine disasters reported. SAIIT LAKE, March 28.-A large meet? ing of merchants and professional men bas been held, and a memorial prepared against the continuance of past patri? archal relations. The interest on thc subject is intense, and the enforcement of the hill as it passed the House will make Utah a desert. NEW ORLEANS, March 28.-The steam? boat Jefferson, from Red River, with 834 boles of cotton on board, was burned yesterday at the mouth of Black River. The bout and cargo is a total loss. No lives lost. SPRINGFIELD, March 28.-The Ham? den paper mill was burned to-day. Loss $225,000. RALEIGH, N. C., March 28.-The Gen? eral Assembly adjourned sine die te-day. The conservative members are ont in an address to tho people, alluding to the Governor's declaring Alamnnce County in insurrection, and asking for a suspen? sion of the habeas corpus. The address says the Chief Magistate of this State, the* head and front of radicalism, has Been fit to declare one of our Counties in a state of insurrection, aud to call upon Congress to suspeud tho writ of habeas corpus throughout the Stute. We declare there is no sufficient cause for this extraordinary action of Governor Holden. There is und has been no armed resistance, uo uprising of tho peo? ple, no outbreaks to disturb or hinder tho full admiuinistratiou of the civil law. We assert that there is uot a County in the State iu which auy sheriff or other peace officer may not go, unattended, and with perfect safety, aud execute any process upon auy citizeu of tho Stale. lt is true that murders and other out? rages have beeu committed, but they bavo uot been confined to any particular locality or auy political party; and when Gov. Holden represents to the President and to Congress that these acts ara evi? dences of disloyalty, he is guilty of a wilful libel upou a people whose rights he has sworn to protect.
