guise for admission. Butler added, if
the judgment of the House went with
hiB, he proposed to exhibit to Tennessee
the power of Congress against wrong,
rapine and murder. Farnsworth, op?
posing tho bill, said be understood very
well tue object of tba bill; it was got np
on Ute theory that the admission of the
Georgia members to the fortieth Con?
gress went for nothing, like Rip Vau
Winkle's dreamt and that they were to
come baok and be sworn for the forty
first Congress. It was to prolong the
tenors of office of certain gentlemen in
Georgia, and the bill might as well be
entitled that as anything else; still, the
Committee on Disabilities reported a bill
abolishing the iron-clad oath. A resolu?
tion of the Mississippi Legislature, for
removal of political disabilities of citi?
zen? of that State, was presented. A bill
to refer all claims for quartermaster and
commissary stores furnished to or taken
by tho United States from loyal persons
in tho South during the war, was con?
sidered* Amendments to limit the bill
to a mere examination of claims, and re?
fer all claims over $500 to the Court of ,
Claims, with power to diminish but not I
to increase the amount, were proposed,
but no action was taken. Adjourned to
Monday.

pursuant to orders heretofore passed in the
Court of Common Pleas for Laurens- County,
in the said Stato, I will ?ell to th? highest
bidder, at public auction, tho property of the
said LaurctiB Railroad Company, described as
follows: The Railroad of the said Company,
running from Newberry village to Laurena
ville, including the road-bed, right of way and
lands occupied by or belonging to tho said
Company, togother with the several eupor
structures and tracks thereon, and all rails
and other materials used on the same, and
all and singular the several bridges, viaducts
culverts, fences, depot grounds and buildings
thereon, station-houses, work-shops, engines,
tonders, cars, toola, materials and machinery,
equipments and appurtenances of every kind,
aud all the stock subscribed for in the said
Company, and all other property belonging,
appertaining to, or in any manner connected
with or forming a part of the said Laurens
Railroad Company, and all franchises, rights
and privileges of the aaid Laurens Railroad
Company, of, in, to, or concerning the same.
