Jamen Brown, an Irishman, forty-eight

One of the moat cn nona freaks of the
present weather is the nnusual re-open*
tog ot navigation on the Hodson. Two
weeks ago there was an ice-blockadu . all
the way north of Poughkeepsie. The
nsusl travel was stopped. Ferry-boats
were laid up for tho winter, and ti ii mo?
rona canal-boats and small craft were
firmly bound, without any prospect nf
encapo until next April or May. if ow. all
this ls changed. The blockade is broken.
Ferry-boats aro running again, and somo
of the regular boes of steamboats have
actually resumed their trips on short
routes. This is the most extraordinary
freak the Hudson has played since the
days of its discoverer.

murdored on Christmas eve by a man
named Lowfc, a pardoned convict. The

line, between the Mob orrin and Notto
Way rivers, abd caused much excitement
and indignation in the. vicinity'. Lewis,
