Last week, twenty-seven young ladies attended clinioal lectures at tho Pennsyl? vania Hospital in Philadelphia, for lue first time in tho history of tho institu? tion. After tbe lecture, some 200 or 300 male students, by a concerted plan, and in spite of the efforts of the managers of the hospital to preservo order, ranged themselves so ns to occupy both Rides of tho whole of the foot-walks insido of tho hospital enclosure, which compelled the twenty-seven lady students to tako tho oartway, and thus pass between the dou? ble lines of the malo students, while the j latter saluted them with taunts and jeers, mock applanse and real bisses. Pope Pius IX is now seventy-seven years of age, and ho has been Pope twen? ty-three years. Ho is described as a vigorous old man, of most benevolent and venerable aspeot. Personally ho is extremely popular with almost all classes of his people.
