MADIUD, August 10.-The newspaper Impartial says 20,000 men will be sent to Cuba in September. Several Carlist ogonta were arrested last night. The Carlist chieftain Balanzettegua, after a desperate resistance, was captured, court martialed and shot. The Bishops have taken no notice of tho ministerial mani? festo. Several priests who led Carlist bands have been defeated. Death promptly follows capture. NEW POUNDIIAND, August 10.-The steamship Cleopatra, from Montreal to London, was totally wrecked, on Sun? day, near Torpassey. The crew and pas? sengers were saved. HAVANA, August 10.-General Lesesa is here sick. A convoy of provisions reached Los Tunas, relieving the starv? ing garrison. NEW YORK, August 10.-The Germa? nia, hence on the 3d for Hamburg, was totally lost off Cape Bace. Tho crew and passengers certainly, and the mails and specie probably, saved. SAN FRANCISCO, August 10.-The earn? ings of the Central Pacific Road, for July, was over $500,000. NEW YORK, August 10.-A squad of United States soldiers took a party at? tempting to create n riot from the custo? dy of Marshal Barlow, and carried him to FoTt Schuyler. FESSES.-No judicial examination has yet been held of the parties arrested in this city, on Saturday night, in connection with tho late $5,000 express robberry on the Central Railroad. We havo been advised that Frank Bland, yesterday, made confession of the circumstances of the robbery, by which the burden of guilt is fastened upon Wm. Hargraves. He reports that on the night of tho rob? bery, he paid an unexpected visit to a private apartment used by Hargraves as baggage-master, on the train, when he found the accused engaged in burning express envelopes. That he interrogated Hargraves as to what ho was doing, and received in reply the answer: "I have been through the express, and will di? vide." Bland further states that he re? ceived but a small portion of tho spoils somo $300. Eland's previous reputation is represented to have been of rather a suspicious order, as he is now, we under? stand, amenable for a forfeited bond, with Foster Blodgett as security, to the Superior Court of this County, in con? nection with another transaction, in which a man was knocked down in the street, and robbed of $5,000, some years ago.-A ugusta Constitutionalist. From Georgia wo have gloomy pros? pects, the cotton crop being seriously in? jured by rust. The editor of the Albany News saj's: "Wo havo reports from all soctions that tho rust is seriously injur? ing tho cotton. We have seen it our? self, and where it exists the cotton looks as if a flame of fire had swept over it. We are having too much rain for cotton, and if it continues a day or two longer, all hope of a full crop will be at au end, for what tho rust leaves tho caterpillar will destroy."
