THE FRUITS OF HONEST INDUSTRY. On yesterday morning 6ix colored men, Charles Yon hg, Edward Young, Miles Hanford, Berry Prior, Enoch Young and Tiloma. Key went to the carriage and harness house of R. H. May, in thisoity, for the purpose of, buying each a buggy. After a short tim? spent in examination, six buggies and sets of harness were pur? chased, the cheapest one of which cost $150 cash, and one of them bought a doable baggy, which, of course, cost muoh more than the others. As soon as the vehicles bad been purchased each one of the owners harnessed a fine mule to the baggy-the mules being also the property of the former. These colored men are working this year on a planta? tion in Burke County, distant about twenty-five miles from this city, and are doing exceedingly well. They are farm? ing on their own account-that is, they have taken so mach land, which they work and give the owner u portion of crop as rent money. Their crops have been thoroughly worked, are looking well, and some of them will gather twenty bales of cotton. These men aro quiet, orderly and industrious, and are repre? sented ns having but little, to do with politics. -Auyusta Chronide. THE (ECUMENICAL! Subsequently, how over, Mr. George D. Addison and Mr. James Addison, young men, voluntarily surrendered themselves as having been the parties who fired on the Creswells, and were taken by tho Sheriff before the District Court, with a view of obtaining bail. Tho remains of Mr. Charles D. Creswell were Bent to the residence of his father, Thursday afternoon. [Augusta Constitutionalist, 1th. A YOUTHFUL SUICIDE-A BOY DROWNS HIMSELF.-*- A negro boy, some eight years of age, committed suicide at Hali? fax, some ten days since, by jumping into the Roanoke at that place. The boy had told his mother that he would drown himself if she persisted in giving him some medioinoe, but no attention was paid to the threat. The youthful sui? cide, however, accompanied by a little Bister, repaired to th c banks of the river, and stripping off his clothing he bade his sistor good-bye, when he deliberately leaped into tho Roanoke and sank to rise no more. His body was recovered after several days and buried.-Weldon Neves. A Mrs. Cooper, living near Big Creek, Sebastian County, Ark., a few days since gave birth to triplets, all boys, the big? gest of whom weighs, or did weigh a few days ago, when our informant, John Sengel, saw thc family, only two pounds. The other two are still smaller, especially the second boru. They are, however, perfectly built and developed, round faced, blue-eyed, their limbs not larger than a man's little finger, and present, as they lie all in a row on their mother's bed, a' most striking and beautifully touching appearance.
