The prediction has, it appears, created wide? spread terror among tho Peruvians, and many families are now preparing tb seek places of grentet security. The astrono? mer- cannot ascertain' to a certainty whether the grand rupture will occur in September or October, but that it will be on or about the 20th he is confident. He affirms that he has predicted earth? quakes befor? with perfect acouracy. WONT>EBFUL SURGICAL. OPERATION.-A most remarkable surgical operation was lately performed in this city by Dr. G. D. Beebo. Four feet six inches of tho intestines were removed from tho pa? tient's body, and may bc seen in Dr. Beebe's office, preserved in alcohol. This was thirteen days ago, and tho lady is now itt the enjoyment of good health, is allowed a generous diet, which she relishes well, and is in a fair way for a complete iecovery.-Ch icago Post. # ? - Washington despatches have apprised the country that a citizen who chooses to "blush unseen" has sent a sum of money to the Treasury, with an explana? tion that it is due the Government as income tax; but he did not wish his neighbors to know how much money he was making, so he made a false return to the Assessor, and sent the balance due to the Treasurer direct!
