And made him a villain, of all men tho worst.
Thus they quarrelled, contended and argued
so long,
.Twas hard to determine the ono that was
wrong.

ment, last winter, a very fascinating and

suits, and not a great while from a North?

fled along, mutual sympathy mellowed

measured their length on time's dial.

One day the husband entered his wife's

He is one of the luxuries of civili?
zation.
He is easy to domestikate, yielding
gracefully to ordinary kindness, and
never deserting those who show him
proper acts of courtesy.
Wo are led to believe, upon a close ex?

fashionable iusekts, that they are highly
successful in intermarriage between tho

thers and sisters may be seen with tho
naked eye over and anon calmly climbing
tho white sugar bowl, or running foot?

days from date.
They aro born from an egg-fonr from
each egg-and consequently they aro all
of them twins. There is no such thing

The material bug don't sett upon tho
egg as the goose doth, but loaves them

tard seed, and don't soem to caro a darn
whether they get ripe or not.
But I never knew a cockroach egg fail

or a bad kold.
The cockroach is of two colors, sorrel
and black. They aro always on the

good track, and a good day, cluss to
three minitts. '
Their food seems to consist not so
much in what they eat os what tv,.ey
travel, and often finding them dead in
my soup at the boarding house, I havo
enm to the conclusion that a cockroach
can't swim, but they can float.
Naturalists hav abo declared that thc
cockroach have no doublo tenth. This
is an important fackt, nod ought to bo
introduced iu all tho primary school
books of Amerika.
But the most interesting feature of
this remarkable bugg is tho iovelynesfl of
their natures. They can't bito nor sting,
nor evon jack buck. They aro so amia?
ble that I havo oven known them tow get
stuck in tho butter, and lay there all day,
and not holler for help, and actually die
at lost with a broken heart.
