Stone and the other person mentioned are
living. Belober stated that the letter was
private to Charles Sumner, and regrets its
publication. Special despatches from At- j
lauta to Republican papers North announce
the murder of these two men by Ku Kluxes,
but there is no foundation for the report.
The outrages being worked np to serve the
ends of certain parties in the State, who
are fearful of being deprived of their offices
under the State Government.
