A PROFITABLE BUSINESS.-A mun in New?
port, N. H., has a good collection of hens.
They laid 1,685 dozens of eggs during 18G8,
of wniohl,612 dozens were sold for $355.26.
Value of tho fowls sold, 810; expense of
keeping, $125; clear profit, $2-10.20. The
fowls are of the white Leghorn breed, some
mixed with Bolton greys and bantams, and
number about 150.
The favorite Chinese "concealed weapon"
is au iron bolt abont fourteen inches long,
covered with red cloth, with a heavy bolt on
ono end. They aro very common in San
Francisco.
Celeste Lenoir, an old Frenoh woman,
died in Now Orleans tho other day. In her
youth, she had been a vivandi?re under Na?
poleon, and had shouldered a musket in one
engagement.
