like a maniac.

eutering the station at Pond du Lac, Wis.,
for tho purpose of takiug the train, was set
upon and murdered at. tlx; gate, his watch
and money stolen, his body left where it
fell, while his assassin took the cars.

and a rcpoft of the result, accompanied each
specimen. 4,000 of the most eminent medical nu n
in tlio Union promptly responded. Their opinions
of tho article were unanimously favorable. Buch a
preparation, they paid, had long been wanted by
the profession, as no rcli&nco?could ho placod on
tho ordinary liquors of commerce; all of which
were mo.-o or Inns adulterated, and, thcroforo,
unfit for medical purposes. Tho peculiar excel?
lence and strength of the oil of juniper, which
formed ono of tho principal Ingredients of tho
Schnapps, together with an unalloyed character
of the alcoholic clement, give it. in tho estimation
of tho faculty, a marked superiority over every
other diffusive stimulant UH a diuretic, tonie and
restorative.
These satisfactory credentials from professional
men of tho highest rank wei o published in t
condensod form, and enclosed with each bottle
of tho Schnapps, as one of the guarantees of itt
genuineness. Other precautions against franc
were also adopted; a patent was obtained for thc
article, the label was copyrighted, a. fae simile ol
tho proprietor's autograph signature was attachei
to each labol and cover, his name and that ot .lu
preparation were embossed on the bottles, ar.d tin
