The Senate assembled at 12 M., and was called to order by the President pro tem. The Hoi. o sent to the Senate a concurrent resolution that the Gene? ral Assembly adjonrn thia day to meet at 12 M., Wednesday, Decem? ber 16, at the college building. An? other message rescinding the abovo was received immediately afterwards. Mr. Hoyt pr osen tod the petition of J. K. Linder, of Colleton County, praying for the removal of his politi? cal disabilities. Referred. Mr. Wright presented tho account of D. Li. Thompson, magistrate of Beaufort, S. G., for servioes rendered as coroner. Referred. Mr. Wright presented tho account of John Conant, Special Constable of Beaufort, S. C., for services ren? dered. Referred. Mr. Swails, from tho Special Joint Committee appointed under a con? current resolution of the General As? sembly to inquire into the practica? bility of obtaining comfortable and convenient rooms for the uso of tbc General Assembly, and also for vari? ons State officers, reported that, in their opinion, there is, in the city of Columbia, but one building which might, with light alterations, ba suf? ficient for the purposes mentioned. This property, now occupied os the "Nickerson Hotel," could be rented for a term of years, or, it is believed, could be purchased by the State ut low figures, if tho obstacles offered by the present lessee Could be re? moved. He demands a bonus of $6,000 for delivery of possession on January 1, 1869, although bis term of lease expires in September next; and the committee, deeming such de? mands unreasonably high, cannot advise the renting of said property. Ordered for consideration to-morrow. Mr. Rainey, from the Committee on Finance, to whom was recom? mitted a bill to make appropriations for the payment of the per diam and mileage of the members of tho Gene? ral Assembly aud tho salaries of sub? ordinate officers, and other expensas inoidental. thereto, reported back the same, with a recommendation that the bill do pass, with amendments. Mr. Jillson, from the Special Com? mittee on Political Disabilities, to whom was referred a concurrent re? solution of the House of Representa? tives relative to the removal of the political disabilities of Wm. Wbaley, Esq., of Charleston, S. C., reported back the same, with a recommenda? tion that, as the resolution is not accompanied by a petition, the Se? nate do not concur. Ordered for consideration to-morrow. Also, re? ported favorably on petition relative to tbe removal of political disabili? ties of J. J. Halford, of Colleton County, G. W. H. Legg and R. C. Poole, of Spartanburg County. Mr. Arnim introduced a bill for the reception aud filing of bonds of publio officers. Received its first reading, waa ordered for a second reading and consideration to-morrow. Mr. Hoyt introduced a bill to au? thorize the Comptroller-General io audit the accounts of Commissioners and Managers of Elections, winch received its Urst reading, and was or? dered for consideration to-morrow. Mr. Roao introduced a resolution, that in consequence of the very dan? gerous condition of the building now oooupied by tbe General Assembly, ?nd tbe inconvenience to which the members are daily subjected, that unless some moro suitable building is immediately obtained, this body do adjourn to Charleston or some other appropriate place. Mr. Coghlan introduced a resolu? tion, that tho sundry accounts and petitions, being part of the unfinish? ed business of the special session of 1868, be called up for reference to the appropriate committees. Bills to amend an Act entitled "An Aot to regulate attachments;" to re? peal the charter of tho town of Beau? fort; to incorporate tho Calvary Bap? tist Church, of tho city of Charleston ; read by title and referred. Resolution relative to tho absrrce of Senators, was laid on the tablo. A bill to extend aid lo the Savan? nah and Charleston Railroad Com? pany, came up on its third reading, and was recommitted to the Railroad Company. A bill to ratify, confirm and amend tho charter of tho Charleston, South Carolina, Mining and Manufacturing Company, was taken up for a second reading, and considered by sections, amended and engrossed for a third third reading. Tho bill relative to sheriffs dieting prisoners was read and referred to the Judiciary Committee. At 2.30 p. m., Senate adjourned. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Tho House met at 12 M. I Luaphart, late Comptroller-Genera $184.113, for extra services during tl months of July and Angus', 180 also, a joint resolution relieving I W.
