A bill is on its third reading in the Tennessee Legislature, providing that lawyers who do not gain their cases shall not receive any fee. The idea is to prevent tho needless litigation, which is stimulated by unscrupulous lawyers. The Post Office Department, dur? ing the last fiscal year, instituted 309 snits for tho recovery of balances d JO the United States, and obtained 278 judgments. A large portion of these were in the Southern States. A SMAI?IJ AFFAIK.-A radical jour? nal says: "It is said that the Ku Klux hung a negro for a small affair. Ho had done nothing but murder two white men, one white woman and a little white girl, all on the samo day." Rov. Dr. Breckenridge was cheri varied at Danville, Ky., on the night of bis marriage.
