Sir John* Young, the new Governor

special despatch: "In conversation,
a few days ago, General Grant ex?
pressed his impresssion that the re?
sult of the late election had quieted

out the country had produced a con?
dition of sober and contented acqui?

majority, and that an improved tone
in tho political, as well as in other
relations of life, will soon be made
manifest. When he made use of the
expression 'Let us have peace,' he
