About 9 o'clock, lost night, citizens
to the number of 100 or more, wore
summoned by tho city and County
authorities to hold themselves in rea?
diness to aid in quelling any riot.
At ll there were no indications of
tronblo, and the posse were dis?
charged. Tho causo of the call was
conilicting orders from Gov. Reed
and Lieut. Gov. Gleason, and fears
wero entertained that the colored
people will be called to support the
action of tho Legislature. The Le?
gislature adjourned tbis morning, till
Jauuary. There was no quorum pre?
sent. When impeachment passed,
several members held their seats and
voted, whose soats had boon deoided
vacant by tho proclamation of the
Governor. By reason of members
accepting and occupying other
officers. Gov. Reed refuses to recog?
nize the action of the body, and de?
clares-it illegal. Lieut. Gov. Glea?
son, this morning, demanded posses?
sion of tho Executive Mansiou and
was refused by Gov. Reed, who has
brought snit against Gleason and
Aldon. Secretary of State, and Cir?
cuit Judge, for conspiring against
tho government, and thoy are now
under arrett. This case will bo sent
up to tho Supremo Conrt. The
general impression seems to be that
Reed is in tho right.
