His gun and clothing were gone-it is supposed he was killed for thom. There is great excitement in tho city. Parties who have been out three days hunting for tho body, met armed bo? dies of negroes, who halted thom with military precision. Parties are now out in the surrounding country in search of the murderers. Robberies and assaults on whites by negroes on roads leading to the city, aro of hour? ly o?jg^renco. The impression prevails that 175,000 bales will be received at this port.
