WYOMTSQ.-The name of Wyo?
ming has been giv?n to a new Terri?
tory in the West, the organization of
which was completed lust week, by
the passage, iu tho Houso of Repre?
sentatives, of a Senate bill to that |
effeot. The new Territory consists
of that part of Dacotah lying West
of Nebraska, and North of Colorado,
between tho forty-first and forty
fifth parallels of latitude. It is near?
ly square in outline, and is traversed,
from East to West, by the Pacific
railroad. Bridger's Pass, Laramie
Peak, Cheyenne, and the new towns
now rising along the railroad, are its
principal points of interest. A fine
mining region will probably be de- j
velopedin the South-western portion ; j
otherwise, it is prairie country.
The Nashville Times describes a
strange phenomenon whioh occurred
at one of the hotels in that city re?
cently. A largo piece of ice was put
into a glass of milk for ono of the
guest. The ice was allowed to en?
tirely dissolve before the gentleman
proceeded to drink the milk. As he
was bringing tho glass to his lips,
his penetrating eye detected some
things moving in the milk, and, on
examination, the moving things were
found to he very small fishes, which
had congealed in the ice for five or
six months, and were revived by the
congenial heat of the milk. The
gentleman immediately improvised a
little aquarium, and his little pets,
as he calls them, are growing vigor?
ous and lively by the hour.
Planchette has sent a Washington
lady to tho lunatic asylum. She be?
lieved in its answers.
