WASHINGTON, Jone 15.-In the
Senate, bills were introduced facili?
tating the settlement of the Price
cases in the Northern Districts of
Florida; also, relative to coast de?
fence and the further security of life
on steam propelled vessels. The
national currency bill was resumed
and discussed all day. Adjourned.
In tho House, under tho regular
call, among others, a bill was intro?
duced, amending the homestead law;
also, regulating habeas corpus; also,
dividing Texas, and providibg for the
admission of fractions; also, author?
izing the Secretary of War to deliver
certain arms to Southern States for
their militia, immediately upon tho
discontinuance of the military govern?
ments therein. The tax bill was
recommitted, and the committee
ordered to report as early as possible.
Tho Senate bill, amending the charter
by whieh the soldiers* votes are ig?
nored and the oity government
placed under radical control, was
passed. The House refused to enter?
tain Logan's resolution looking to
tho removal of the capitol. Ad?
journed.
Surratt's counsel announced them?
selves ready. The prosecution asked
for a postponement. The oourt fixed
next Monday for the day of trial,
when, if the prosecution is not ready,
bail would bo given Surratt.
Mr. A. R. Lamar, of Columbus,
Georgia, is here, in the interest of
the young men now imprisoned by
the military authorities for alleged
implication in the murder of Ash?
burn. Circumstances conneoted with
the arrests have been published here
and excite astonishment and indigna?
tion.
RICHMOND, June 15.-The case of
John Anderson, Collector of the
Fourth District, and others, charged
with conspiring to defraud the Go?
vernment, was concluded to-day.
Judge Chase sentenced Anderson to
$10,000 fino and two years in thc
penitentiary; Patterson, $5,000 fino
and two years in the penitentiary;
Elsom, $5,000 fine and two years iu
the penitentiary; Gouldman, $2,000
fine and ono year in the penitentiary.
