Mr. Merrick, counsel for Woolley, in a letter to the House, impugns Butler's veracity. The Senate Committee ou Foreign Relations reported a resolution, re? questing the President to uso his good offices in securing tho release of Father McMahon, imprisoned in Canada for Foniauiem. In the House, a bill for the relief of E. J. Maokey, of South Carolina, was referred to the Reconstruction Committee. The reconstruction bill, as amended by the Senate, was re? ported. The motion to exclude Flo? rida was defeated-90 to 44; and the bill passed by 111 to 28. Tho President has nominated Re? verdy Johnson to St. James. The omnibus admission bill, though some of its provisions were carried by a bare majority, was finally passed by both Houses, by a full radical vote. The admission of theso States, including nil but Virginia, Missis? sippi and Texas, will occur in eleven days or sooner. Gen. McDowell has formally as? sumed command of tho Fourth Mili? tary District, comprising Mississippi and Arkansas. Hulburd donounccd the opposition to including Florida in the omnibus bill, as arising from the foot that a citizen of Illinois had been defeated as Governor. Butler said that, if left to his own ideas, he should doubt the policy of admitting any Southern States, but yielded to party interest. Reverdy Johnson was confirmed unanimously. A Chase meeting took place in Philadelphia, composed of influen? tial men, the object of which was to harmonize Chase and the D?mocratie arty.
