A gentleman living near Ports?
mouth, Ohio, lins identified a ghost
His family had often been annoyed
by ghostly visitations during his
absence. He ooncludod to "possum"
absence, but watch at home for the
spook. Tho Tribune says: "About
midmight his ghostship appeared
and commenced his 'spiritual mani?
festations.' The watcher, with re?
volver ih' hand, slyly slipped to the
door, opened it suddenly, and laid
violent hands upon his visitant.
Bringing him into the house, a light
was struck, the 'winding sheet' torn
off, and there stood revealed to his
astonished gaze the form of one of
his neighbors, who had long been
anxious to purchase the 'haunted
house,' and had taken this course to
i* ?preciate its value. He went down
on his knees and begged his captor
not to expose him; and ho, af tor a
judicious application of cow-hide,
turned tho rascal out. The house has
not been 'haunted' since."
Ou Su/iday, while three sons of
Henry Foge, of Delaware, Ind?, aged
ten, twelve and sixteen years, were
out in a field together, a difficulty
arose between them, when the oldest
mashed the bends of the younger
brothers with an axe, killing one
outright, aud leaving tho other iienr
ly dead. At the approach of the
father, tho oldest boy ran to the barn
and hung himself.
