CHAMTV. HOSPITALS IN LONDON.
They take good caro of the sick in
London. In one year, fourteen
charity hospitals have given aid and
treatment to 33,000 in-patients nnd
550,000 out-patients. London hus a
population of 3,000,000, and it will
be seen that nearly one-fifth of the
people receive aid from publio chari?
ties. All tho relief thus afforded is
quite independent of that given by
medical officers of the poor-law ser?
vice.

Disraeli is occasionally a viotim to a
habit which sometimes betrays pub?
lic men on both sides of the water.
It is more than hinted that ou the
occasion of his last speech on the
Irish Church question, on the night

The buffalo gnats are killing the
stock throughout the South-west
country. Tho stock along the river
Counties suffer most. The late spell
of bad weather has inoreased the
gnats. Planters in some cases have
lost their entire stock.
