York city, which is well calculated to
deceive persons living in the coun?
try. A circular is sent out with sam?
ples of prints, which aro represented
to be manufactured ut print works
whoso owners have an office in New
York. Enclosed in tho circular are
samples of goods, of which twelvo
yards will bo seut on the recoipt of
one dollar, or tim yards for eighty
flvo cents. A few days ago Postmas?
ter Kelly received a letter from a
lady, with an enclosure of eighty-five
cents, asking him to send lier ton
yards of the goods if they were as
represented. A messenger was sent
to the office named, when it was
found that the place was iu charge of
a boy, and that no business was
transacted tlioro beyond receiving
letters, which usually numbered from
tbirty-fivo to lift}? a day.
An Ohio boy married a well pre?
served widow of sixty, and bis father
avenged himself by wedding tho
grand-daughter of bis new daughter
in-law.
