House, a resolution was adopted, that
during the sessions of the impeach?
ment court tho Blouse would attend
in Committee of the WttoT?. A bill
to establish a mail, passenger and
emigrant line' of steamers between
New York and one or more European
ports, was referred. The Pacific
Railroad was brought up and during
the discussion it was stated that
$500,000 had been expended in
Washington, in 1864, to secure tho
passage of the bill. I Wash bu ruo
claimed that at the present rate of
expenditure, when the road was com?
pleted the cost of passage from Oma?
ha to San Francisco would be $200,
and 85,000 for a oar load of freight.
Without action, adjourned.
In tho Senate, petitions were pre?
sented from Delaware, complaining
of the deprivation of political rights;
referred to the Judiciary Committee,
with instructions to ascertain tho
genuinoss of the signature. Drako
offered a new impeachment rule, that
during the sessions of the court,
Chase be called Mr. President and
the court shall be addressed as the
Senate. Drake remarked that the
President's counsel studiously ad?
dressed Chase as Mr. Chief Justice,
and alluded to the Senate as the
court. They had a distinct purpose
j, in this, which would be developed
' duriug the trial. Johnson objected
to its immediate consideration, and
it wont over. After executive session,
adjourned.

of the State, two and one-half dollars on
every hundred dollars; on tho gross in?
comes of all Railroads, (not exempted by
law, ) from carningB within the State, one
dollar on every hundred dollars; all taxes
on incomes imposed by the provisions of
this Act shall have reference to the amount
of such income received between the 1st
day of January, 18G7, and tho 1st day of
January, 1868, and all such income tax
shall be due and payable on or before the
31st day ut March, 1868; that tho tax on
Railroad Companies, Express Companies
