SI A CURIOUS DERATE.-In tho New
York Legislature, on Friday, a De?
mocratic membor moved that a
declaration of Preaident Lincoln,
painted with white letters on black
muslin, and placed at the West end
of the Hull of Assembly during the
obsequies of the "late lamented,"
should te taken down. The words
are: "I have the most solemn oath
registered in Heaven to preserve,
prateot and defend the Government."
, Ah4' amnsing Rebate followed, in
which the taking down was opposed
by more D?mocrate than .Repub?
licans. The Democrats completely
turned the tables on the Republicans,
expressing their desire that the motto
'should remain as a rebuke of ..the
Republicans for having deserted the
position occupied by Mr. Lincoln.
The motion was rejected-two-thirds
of the Democrats voting against it.
At Aberdeen, Mississippi, a few
days since, ? little son of Mr. Bean
apparently died. Two young ladies
and a servant volunteered to keep
watch during the night. At about
12 o'clock, tho servant was noticed
to be asleep, when one of the young
ladies pricked her with a pin, which
caused her to scream. This aroused
the supposed dead child, alarming
the inmates of the room greatly.
Upon examination it was found that
the child had become warm, and in
a short time it was running about.
