MORE NEW ENGLAND PIETY.-Some time since, a reverend divine, from Middleton, Connecticut, calling him? self Dennison, made his appearance in this city, and edified the "Loyal Leaguers" with much preaching. After a short sojocrn, the said re? verend gentleman prepared to de? part, and made his appearance at tho depot with a large box, which he directed to Middleton, Connecticut, and marked "Iron Pomp." It was shipped as an iron pump, bnt, on reaching Norfolk, the way bill being blurred, and the marking having be? come indistinct, a dispute arose be? tween two railroad agents there as to whether it was a piano box or a pump box. A wager was the result, and to decide it, the box was opened, when, to the amazement of the officials, they found therein a dis? interred corpse packed in saw-dust. The freight upon an iron pump to Mid? dleton being about forty dollars less than upon a corpse to the same place, the reverend gentleman had con? cluded to avail himself of this op? portunity for a little sly cheating, which would have proved a success but for an accident. We get the above facts from the agent of the Haleigh and Gaston Railroad, now in this city, and a gentleman of veracity.-Charlotte News. THE MINT.-We had the pleasure of meeting yesterday Dr. I. J.
