Among the many exhortations to tho leaders of the Republican party, from the prominent men and organs that have hitherto acted with it,, and wish st ill to do so, is a recent letter from tho Hon. Thomas Ewing, of Ohio, in reply to a request of several gentlemen. It was written after the election in that State, and is a very able, as well as commendable produc? tion. Mr. Ewing counsels moro moderation, and is evidontly of the opinion, that tho result in the States, which havo lately held elections, prove that tho people condemn ultra measures. Wo have not room for more than the concluding paragraph : ..The more conservative Republi? can leaders, if they would retain power, must learn to know that there is a publio opinion not created by themselves, or changeable nt their pleasure, which, when it speaks-as it has spoken-is entitled to their re speot. In obedience to this they mnst conform their action in Con? gress to tho expressed public will, and legislate,- like rational men, with calmness and consideration, rather than with passion. It is hard to ask a political party to acknowledge error and retrace their steps, but in this case the good of the country requires and the expressed will of the people demands it. The correction must and will be made, either by them or by those who will succeed them, and it wero better done in a conservative spirit by them than by the Demo? cracy, who will be otherwise called to the tusk under more difficult compli? cations. 0^ If the Republicans will do this promptly and cheerfully, they will probably regain and retain their as? cendancy, and they may rely on the Domocraoy to render them all need? ful aid in restoring and securing it. That party, wherever in power, will, unless they have learned wisdom from hard experience, adopt objec? tionable measures, or bring forward obnoxious men, such as will destroy their ascendancy, if the Republicans havo conservative wisdom enough to profit by their errors. The Island of Cuba must bo one of the favored spots of the world, and its climate exceedingly indulgent in protracting human life, if tho fol? lowing be true: "In the small town of Vega Bajel, Pablo Maysowet died at the age of 130 years. One of bis sonn, who at? tended the funeral, stated that bis eldest brother was a youth of 10G years. Tho father was born in 1737; bis oldest son in 1761*, and therefore lived five reigns." Who would not sigh for a homo in that suluorious elimo, after reading an obituary liko that? THE FENIANS IN EX OLAND.-These Irish gentlemen uro giving tho Eng? lish people and tb Mr Government, a deal of anxiety and real trouble. Ono of their latest overt acts was to attack an nrmory of tho Norfolk Riflo Volunteers, and plunder it, of nnmn sixty rifles and 1G\000 ball cartridges. This was not accomplished without considerable hard fightjng, in which pistol shots were oxebanged, police? men injured, und tho armorer mor? tally wounded. Tho negro Ned Horton, who was attacked by a mob of blacks in Lynch? burg, for voting a conservativo ticket, shot three of bis assailants before tho military arrived. Tho latter presented bayonets to the mob, when they dis? persed. It is a pity there were not moro Ned Hortons* in Virginia on election day. BOY'S ABM BITTEN OFF BY A Hoa. Near Wooster, Obio, a boy aged nine years, went ont to the barn to make a bed for a sow with pigs, and in doing so, the animal attacked him ferociously, injuring him almost fatally. He was fearfully bitten and mangled in the knee, legs and arms. IIl? ?ight .".l ill, UC1U1Y Lilt) tlUUV?, wm) literally "chawed up," tho bones mangled to pieces, tho arm hiiuging by the flesh alone. LYNCH LAW IN INDIANA.-Ou Thursday night, a mob proceeded to the jail at Franklin, Indiana, and forcibly took therefrom two men, who wero eharged with murder, and subsequently hung th MU in tho su? burbs of the town. Yesterday, an? other murderer was executed at An? derson, Indiana. THE PYRENEES DISAPPEARING.-A Madrid paper says seien tifie researches have established tho fact that the Pyrenees have, in the Inst twenty years, lost thirty metres iu altitude. The last Hong Kong steamer from San Francisco, carried home several hundred Chinamen, who have be? come indopenden t by washing clothes. Tho Governor, aleado nnd alder? men of a Cuban city, have got into troable, by joining the Masons. A child with two heads has been born nnd is flourishing in England. Registration-Final Session. To givo debilitating medicines to tho weak ?B as about as sensible* as it would be to try to help a mau to bis feet by kioking bim when bo waa down. That sort of practice is going out of fashion. It lias lilied so many grave-yards that people no louger belicvo in it. If thoso who aro not strong by nature expect to avoid thc attacks of disease, they must endeavor to acquiro tt.e vigor neces? sary to resist it. How is this to be done? Common sense suggests, by the uso of invigorating medi? cine. Tho groat object is to strengthentho system without exciting it. This object ia accomplished by tho judi? cious uso of tho most potent and genial of all vogetablo tonics and alteratives, HOS TETTER'S STOMACH BITTER8. Many valuable properties aro combined in this preparation. It improves tho appo tito and renders digestion easy and per? fect. It gives steadiness to tho nerves, induces a healthy, natural flow of bile; prevents constipation without unduly purging tho bowels; gently stimulates^tho circulation, and by promoting a vigorous condition of tho physical system, promotes, also, that cheerfulness ffhich is tho truest indication of a well balanced condition of all thc ani? mal powers. As a blood purifier, thcro is no medicine like it known to tho profession. A gentleman told me that his son has been taking the Queen's Delight, and is more benefited by it than by any other medicine. Ho wants a dozen bottles." Extract from a lotter: "It is due to you to state in this public manner, in order that tho people may know the truth, that I have tried your Queen's Delight, and found it not only what you said it was-"a pure medicine"-but the best medicine I havo ever taken for eruptions and general bad health. I had an eruption all over my body, with impaired digestion and disor? dered liver, and have tried a great many medicines without any 1 em lit. I have taken one bottle of your Queen's Delight, the eruption bas disappeared, my appetite is better, my liver and digestion is im Eloved. I am satisfied one or two more ottles will euro mo." Extract from a letter: "At the close of tho war, my constitution was shattered. I could not cat, Bicep or perform any duty whatever, such was my prostrate condi? tion. Medicine and medical aid I had in abundance, such was my condition up to a few months since, when I began the uso of vour Queen's Delight. I have used two bottles, my constitution is greatly im? proved, my appetite is good, enjoy refresh? ing sleep, and am able to perform my sbaro of dailv labor." Extract from a letter-Wonderful effect of only one bottle: "1 havo used only a half bottlo of 'Queen's Delight' for boils and eruptions of the skin and itching hu? mors of tho blood, which annoyed mc very much. I am onthri ly cured. I think your medicine a valuable one." A remarkable case of liver complaint and headache cured by tho use of "Hoinitsb's Queen's Delight:"" A lady of unquestioned worth and reputation voluntarily gives tes? timony of the wonderful effects of this medicine, sho has boon from early years a martyr to Headaches, caused by imper? fect action of the liver, producing intenso headache ami pain over the eyes. Sho has taken only four bottles, and assures us of the perfect cure it hus made. She now en? joys good health. Still another: "During last spring, I had boes ir;:;:Llc,l nWn obstinate chilla and fever, which, when cured, left my system in a wretched condition, blood impuro, and I was afflicted with an angry, and, as I at ono timo thought, an incurable, cutaneous eruption over my eutiro body. Tho most violent remedies suggested failed to work a euro, until, at tho instance of a friend, I tried Dr. Heinitsb's Queen's Delight. Lesa than two bottles cured rae, leaving my skin in a healthy condition. My general health is a? good as ever. For euch purposes, I have, over since my cure, unhesitatingly recommended your Queen's Delight." Don't buy anv but tho right kind.
