Tho Roanoke Times Bays it is re? ported and believed, that a man call? ing himself Crenshaw, who has been there for nearly twelve months past, teaching a negro school, and the "head centre" of the Union League in that county, left for parts unknown 6n last Tuesday night, forgetting to leave behind him about $300 belong? ing to tho League. A few days ago, twenty-seven women, of Redfield, Iowa, decided to abate tho whiskey shops of that place, and did so. They were ar? rested, tried and acquitted. Subse? quently they were re-arrested and taken boforo another Justice of the Peace, twenty-five miles distant, where they were again acquitted after n three days' trial. Ex-Queen Mary of Hanover was, a year ago, still a fine looking matron with jet black hair. Her grief at the sudden dethronement of ber husband, and the blasted hopes of her son Ernest, liavo exerted such an effect npon her appearance, that she looks now like a woman of sixtj-, and her hair has turned entirely white. James A. Cutting, of Boston, tho discoverer of the "avobrotypo" pro? cess, died recently at tho insane asy? lum at Worcester. Mr. Cutting made a number of ingenious inventions, and was tho projector of the "Aquari al Gardens," of Boston, tho finest I establishment of the kind in tho country.
