SACHUSETTS.-An attempt was made |
at North Adams to assassinate State :
Constables McKay and Savage on
their return from tho making of j
seizures of liquor. Ten shots were
fired at them by unknown persons
concealed in a piece of woods on the
road-side. The shots entered their
earrings, but the constables escaped
without injury.
TAXES AND REVENUE.-There is n
strong feeling in the public mind
antagonistic to the annoyance-very
unprofitable as regards its pecuniary
results-of trying to raise revenue by j
