from Jasper, Tennessee, writes that,

Tennessee, two rebel soldiers stopped
at the house of Mr. K-, and one
of them proposed a trade for a very
fino horse, but thought that1 a large
white spot on the horse's forehead
lessened his value somewhat. "Why
so?" "Because," said the soldier,
"the Yankees can see it a great way
off." "Never mind that," said his
companion; "t'other end is always
toward the Yankees!"
