On Tuesday, a lad of twelve or
thirteen yeara of age visited Caledo?
nia for a dootor. He found Riddle at
home taking his siesta, and woke him
up with, "Doctor, I want you to come
and see dad-ho's dyin\" "Well,"
says the dootor, "if he's dying I can't
do him any good." "That's so," re?
joined the boy; "ho'll bo dead in less
than an hour;" and turning on his
heel, added; "Well, by jing we've
all got to die some time or other,
and dad might as well die now as any
time."_
An unfortunate bachelor in the
Northern part of New Hampshire,
who has had mauy unsnccessul at?
tempts to get a wife, at last succeeded,
by tho irresistible temptation of a
315 silver watch, in inducing a high
tempered, old maid to marry him.
Tho ceremony having beeu duly per?
formed at the^ house of the bride's
father, the happy husband proposed
an immediate return home. "Horno!"
exclaimed tho brido; "home! Ibis is
my home, and you'd had better go to
your'n. I agreed to marry you for
tho watch; but I wouldn't live with
you for a town clock!"
A lad of sixteen has walked 120
miles in 120 consecutive hours, at
Memphis. Ho walked tho last milo
in fourteen minutes.
