The Chicago Tribune propounds
the following; "If iron otra be im?
ported and sold in this 00101117 at
$60 per ton in greenbacks, it will take
exactly six barrels of flour, at $10
per barrel, to pay fer it. If the price
of iron be raised by tho tariff to $110
Ser ton, it will take eleven barrels of
our to pay for it. Will some per?
son, deeply skilled in the mysteries
of 'home industry, ' tell us who pays
the farmer for tho extra five barrels
of flour?"
The New York Herald says that tho
New York Tribune has become "the
recipient of. the immense advertising
patronage of our copperhead city
corporation," und that his "plum" is
worth "fifty or sixty thousand dol?
lars a year, at the lowest calculation. "
The Herald alleges that the' Tribune
receives this good thing in conse?
quence of Mr. Greeley's trip to Rich?

The New York Herald says it has
been sued by a Confederate officer
for 850,000 damages, on a cbargo of
libel. The name of the party is not
stated.
