A HEART-RENDING OCCURRENCE.
A allocking occurrence transpired
near Cincinnati on Sunday, of which
tho following aro the particulars:
Mrs. Branc, whoso husband, n well
to-do merchant, is now in Memphis
on a business visit, resides on the
side hill facing tho Hamilton and
Dayton Railroad track, near Earnest's
station. Suuday morning, on is her j
usual custom, she took her children
to visit the residence of her father, a
Mr. Dyers. Ella, who wns totally
blind, stumbled through a trap-door,
in the ll o or of thc k:tcheu, and fell
in a large cistern ,b meath. The mo- !
ther, on seeing this, and having her
little son itl her nrnis, without n mo?
ment's thought, jumped through the
trap-door nud'into the cistern, for tho
purpose of attempting tho rescue of
her daughter. In making tho leap,
it is ' supposed the unfortunate wo?
man must have injured herself se?
verely,-ns she immediately 6auk to
tho bottom, holding as if with a vice
her little son in her arms. When
discovered by Mr. Dyer, tho lives of j
ail had fled.
