the Church of tho Puritans, New
York, on Sunday last, Reverend Dr.
Cheever delivered a discourse on
"The Sight of the Colored Boco in
Convention," ko. After the usual
Sabbatr evening service, Dr. Cheever
proceeded With his discourse, taking
for hie text the twenty-first verse of
-tho second chapter of the Epistle of
Pani to the . Romans-"Thou there?
fore, which teachest auother, teachest
thon hot thyself ? Thou that preach
est a man should not steal, dost thou
steal?" The question here submitted
by the Apostle was applicable to the
Legislature of the ??tate, at Albany.
The Northern people had shown them?
selves prompt and ready to lay down
the law to the Southern States, and '
was ready to give light to them that
were in darkness, while thoy them-1
selves continued in darkness, and
committed iniquity before tho world.
THE SOUTH AND RECONSTBUCTION.
It would ?oem, says the Now York
Herald, that tho District Commanders I
find but little disposition on the part |
of those subjected to tho operation
of the reconstruction act to render |
the execution of the law either diffi?
cult or disagreeable; but from nil
indications, " an earnest desire is
manifested to reach the end of their
tribulations, nnd once moro to be
found working in harmony with the !

PONS of the city of Colombia, are
respectfully notified that the City Clerk is
now prepared to issuo NEW B?ND8 for
such as are past due, and to fund the in?
terest duo to the hi .st of July, 1SC7. upon
all the bonds issued by the city, by the
issuo of new bonds, according to the Act
of the L?gislature, passed in December
last. Bonds of the denomination of Five
Hundred, Two Hundred and Fifty and One
Hundred Dollars will only be issued.
Claimants are requested to Apply at the
City Clerk's Office with as little dolay as
