The Detroit Tribune furnishes its
readers with a short fancy sketch as
follows: At tho Police Court yester?
day, a colored girl was called as a
witness and told to "take the stand."
She surveyed the witness box a few
moments, and after mounting the
highest portion of it that she could
find, directed the court to -*go ahead
wid de sale," evidently supposing
that she was to be sold. In fact, so
decided was she in this opinion, that
it was with difficulty she could bc
made to believe otherwise.
A distinguished writer says of the
Yankee, that as soon as he enters the
world, the idea of necessity assails
him on every side and soon teaches
him th 3 natural limits of his power.
Hence ho becomes slow to act, but
persevering, and attains proficiency
in making cunning do the work of
force.
A reverend geographer of London,
England, not inappropriately named
Fuxniss, gives the following definite
information about the realms of his
satanic majesty: "Hollis 4,0U0 miles
from the surface of the earth; it is a
boundless plain of red-hot iron, with
an atmosphere of fire and rivers of
seething filth and sulphur."
A London publisher announces
"The Lovers' Dictionary; a Poetical
Treasure of Lovers' Thoughts, Fan?
cies, Addresses and Dilemmas, in?
dexed for reference as a dictionary of
compliments, and guide to the study
of the tender science."
When shooting at a long distance

The Albauy Express has an article
headed "Let us reflect." We did
not read it, but suppose it refers to
looking glasses.
A man who had a scolding wife,
being asked what he did for a living,
replied that he kept a hot house.

The Great American Blood Purifier.
THE QUEEN'S DELIMIT !
QUEEN'S DELIGHT, tho proat
. American Alterative and Blood Puri?
fier, is the most perfect vegetable com?
pound of alterativos, tonics, diuretics and
diaphoretics; making it the most effective
invigorating, rejuvenating and blood
cleansing cordial known to the world.
lu introducing this new and extraordi
nary medicine to the public, observation
leads us to remark that too little attention
is paid to the "life <d' all flesh," the blood.
Many diseases, and, too,many complaints,
which bave their origin in a vitiated state
of thc blood, are treated only as symptoms
and results: whereas, if the remedy had
been applied to enrich the blood and ren?
der it pure, both cause and effect would
have been removed. The Queen's D? light
is offered to the afflicted as a sure remedy
for those diseases arising from an impure
condition of the blood, lt lias a direct
and specific action upon that thud, and
consequently renders the blood pure, lt
is said, on high authority, that ..man no
sooner begins to live than ho begins to j
die. and that the characteristics of the I
living organism aro ceaseless change and j
ceaseless vaste.'" lt is obvious, therefore,
to every reflecting mind, that unless the
blood is pure, in supplying the waste tis?
sues with material, it must be the cause of
innumerable ills ami constitutional disor?
ders, such as Scrofula, Rheumatism, He?
patic Disorders, Consumption, Inflamma?
tions, Fevers, Ac. Life' and health is only
to bc maintained by the circulation of pure
arterial blood.
We therefore advise every ono whose
blood is in the least vitiated liv indulgence
or excess, and whoso constitution is im?
paired by disease ami is Buffering from j
Rheumatism, Liver <'omi hunt, Consump- !
tion, Scrofula or King's Evil, Carbuncles,
Boils, Itching Humor of the Skin, Erysi?
pelas, Skin Diseases. Tetter, Roughness of
the Skin. Pimples, Blotches, Fains in the j
Bones, old Ulcers, Syphilis and Syphilictic
Sores, Indigestion, Inflammation td' the
Bladder and Kidneys. Pains in tho Rack,
General Debility, and for all complaints
arising from deficiency ami poverty of
blood, to use the Queeu's Delight.
Females cf delicate Constitution, suffer?
ing from weakness and depression oi mind
in consequence of those complaints which
nature imposes at the period of change,
have a pleasant and sure remedy.in the
Queen".; Delight.
Children whose fair and ruddy complex?
ion gave early promise of health and
beauly, Int too sonn become blanched and
pale by some hereditary taint of the blood,
will have the rich boon restored by using
tho Queen's Delight.
Tho unaceliniated and persons traveling
into warm countries will lind tho Queen's
Delight a great protection from all malari?
ous affection and disoases which originate
in a change of climate, diet and life.
The extraordinary and unprecedented
cures performed by tho Queen's Delight
Compound is attracting the attention of
every one, not only at home, but abroad.
The merits of this compound are being
felt and appreciated everywhere. Hear
what they say of it in New York: "It is a
remedy bf much importance and value,
exerting an influence over all the secre?
tions, which is unsurpassed by any other
known alterative, lt is extensively used in
all the various forms of primary and
secondary syphilitic affections; also, in
scrofulous, hepatic and cutaneous diseases,
in which its use is followed by the most
successful results."
Its properties as a remedy were first in?
troduced to the notice of the profession by
Dr. Tkos. Young Simons, of South Carolina,
as early as 1828, as a valuable alterative re?
medy in syphilitic affections, and others re?
quiring use of mercury. Dr. Simons' state?
ments have been endorsed and extended
by Dr. A. Lopez, of Mobile, and Dr. H. R.
Frost, of Charleston. From tho reports in
its favor, there seems no reason to doubt I
the efficacy of this medicine in Secondary
Syphilis, Scrofula, Cutaneous Diseases,
Chronic Hepatic Affections and other com?
plaints benefited by alterative medicines.
