THE TYPO AND THE TED?TOB.-Thc lawyer editor of a country paper who wrote a very "bund hand," was fre? quently annoyed by compositors' in? quiries, concerning words which they could not decipher. One day a com? positor, RS little acquainted with the disposition of tho editor as he was with the hand writing, entered the sanctum, and holding tho copy be? fore his eyes, inquired what a certain crooked mark stood for. The editor did not wish at that time to be in? terrupted, and exclaimed - "Go to the devil." Thc compositor retired, not to his satanic majestey, hut to thc compos? ing room. When the editor read the prooTs, he had the pleasure to seo a line in his editorial read: "He (Mr. Webster) will, in all pro? bability, go to the devil." Thc "copy was looked for and the crooked mark was marked-"bo nom? inated." A STOKY ABOUT TILTERS. -The Smithland Times tells a story illustra? tive of the old saw that the "course of true love never did mn smooth." A young couple in Smithland had lain a plan to outwit the vigilance of cruel parents and elope. A CHAEGE TO A JUEX.-An Indiana justice recently summed up a case in a novel and sprightly style, which astonished his entire auditory.
