In au article upon the adoption of the constitutional amendment, the Nashville Union mu/ Dispatch says: "It is said, and we believe seriously contended, that this amendment hus been adopted by the State of Ten? nessee. ?So far as the assertion as? sumes that the people of the Stute have or do assent, to it, it is a total perversion of the truth-it is a ca? lumny. The trick by which it was pretended to be adoptod by the "Legislature was so transparent a usurpation, that it cannot properly be called a legislative Act. Tin; pro? cess involves a story somewhat long, and wo will not repeat it; but are ready to affirm that three-fourths of our people repudiate and spurn it."?
