The train due. hero yesterday, at 4:30, ran into a snow drift, a few miles West of herc. Efforts have been inado to reach tho train, from this eity, with six locomotives and two coaches, but they could not proceed beyond tho city limits. The snow drifted higher than the locomotives. No trains have arrived or been despatched to-day, nor is it likely any will, for some time. QuiiiiEc, December 28.-Michael Crowley, who, yesterday, was found guilty by a jury, at Sweetsburg, has been sentenced to be executed with tho other Fenians, on the 15th of February. Ile is a British subject. LEAVENWORTH, KANSAS, December 24.-A sergeant and live soldiers, of Company D, 7th Cavalry, from Fort Kiley, went to Og? den city, in search of deserters. The ser? geant stationed a guard around a house, with orders to let no one in. Ile then at? tempted to outrage the woman of tho house, who was alone. Thc cries of her children aroused her husband and brother, at work in a field near hy, and they came to her assistance. The sergeant, foiled, ordered thc husband shot, and the order was carried out by one of the- guard, who killed the husband. The citizens a. med, and fought the soldiers, wounding two aie' capturing thc squad. They are now in the hands of the civil authorities. HUDSON, N. Y., December 28.- A storm, the greatest ever known here, is prevailing. Every avenue to the city i i blocked up. Tho Hudson and Berks here Railroad i-> completed}' closed. Four passenger cars were bk wu from the track of the- Hudson River Road. Tho damage done by the storm in thia neighborhood will be very great. WASHINGTON, Dcce-.itbcr 2S.-The re? ceipts of gold m the Treasury, during this month, are unusually light. There have been no extraordinary expenditures, and the balance, at the end of the month, wilt show the gold in the Treasury vaults to be about iSO.00O.or0; certificates, $10,000,000; total, $96,000,000. The President has recalled theexequator of Gerhard Jausscn, Consul of Oldenburg, for New York, thus preventing him longer to exercise such official privileges. The reason of this is, that Janssen refused to appear in thc Supremo Court nf tho State of New York, to answer in a pending suit, on the plea that he is a consular officer, and, in this way, seeking to use his official position to defeat .lie ends of justice. Governor Patton, of Alabama, is herc, and states that he will probably remain until after the rc-assembung of Congress, in order that ho may confer with the members, and ascertain whether ho can assure the people of Alabama that the State win be admitted, upon tho ratifica? tion of the amendment. The President having received satisfac? tory evidence from the Emperor of France, through the Marquis de Montholon, that vessels belonging to citizens of tho United States, entering any port of France or its dependencies, on or after the ls<t January next, will not ht; subjected to the payment of higher duties ol' tonnage than are'levied upon vessels belonging to citizens of France, entering the said port, has issued a proclamation declaring that, on and after Bftid lot day of Januarv, so long as vessels of the United States shall bo admitted to French ports on tho terms aforesaid, French vessels entering ports of the United States will be subject to no higher rat' s of duty on tonnage than aro levifcd upon vessels in the United States in the ports thereof.
