A Cincinnati merchant, -who sup?
posed that lie was doing a good busi?
ness, and who ?was somewhat faulty
in business management, diccovered,
to his great astonishment aud dismay,
that he was on thc point of failure.
Notes were due and he had no money
with which to pay. Ho could find
rio return for sales which ought to

profit. This startling discovery led
him to investigate closely into his
business affairs, and as a result, he
soou became convinced that his head
salesman had been for many months
deliberately robbing him. He placed
thc matter in tho hands of the detect?

employee as to lead him to con?

ed that he had swindled his employer
out of about $10,000-the greater
portion of which he had invested in
