The [udiauola (Texas) Times says if some Northern and Western people are surprised to loam that there are instnncecs ot as may as 20,000 cattle owned by one man in Texas, they will no doubt br more surprised to hear that such men hardly ever have milk or butter on their tables. In an adjoining county, says the Times, where the number of cattle given in for taxes exceeds 150,000, the mer? chants purchase Borden's condensed milk and Goshen butter to sell their customers. Gen. Dudrey, now in command at Vicksburg, Miss., attended a dinner recently, given by the merchants of thnt city, and gave as a sentiment: "The conservative element of the country-the fighting men of both armies."
