beyond Columbia, that arrangements have
been made with tho Collector of tho Inter?
nal Revenue for this Collection District, by
winch all cotton coming down the road,
upon which tho tax has not been paid, that
it may be assessed and thc lax paid at this
point; provided it is consigned to J. B.
GLASS, Agent at this point, and the

paid "by the consignee in Charleston -icith

XTTHEREAS the General Assembly of
W this State, by an Act passed on the
twenty-first day of September, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-six, entitled ''An Act tor tho
funding of the interest and principal of
certain stocks and hoads of the Slate past
due," provided that immediate provision
be made for fonding the following debt of
South Carolina, to wit: Three hundred and
ten thousand dollars, now past due, as the
principal of bonds of tho State issued by
virtue of an Act of the Legislature, passed
in December, in tho yea'- of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and fifty-nine,
together with tho interest on said bends;
tho interest on an issue ?d' bonds to the
amount of ono million of dollars, under an
Act of thc Legislature, passed in thc year
of our Lord ono thousand eight hundred
and fifty-four; and tho interest on an issue
of bonds to tho amount of five hundred
thousand dollars, issued under an Act
Ei'.ssed in December, in thc year of our
ord one thousand eight hundred and
fifty-three, for thc building of tho new
State House; likewise, the interest on one
million seven hundred and seventy-five
thousand dollars of six per cern, stock,
issued for tho purpose of building the now
State House, under several Acts of thc Le?
gislature, passed in thc years of our Lord
ono thousand eight hundred and fifty-six,
fifty-seven, fifty-eight, fifty-nine, sixty-tuie
and sixty-three-the -said interest to be
calculated as duo up to the date of th.- first
day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-seven, without charging interest
upon interest of any portion of the arrear
of interest;
And whereas, in accordance with the
provisions nf said Act, bonds of this St.?.fo
have been prepared, of the amounts of one
hundred, rive hundred and one thousand
dollars, payable at the Treasury in Colum?
bia -one-half on the first day of January,
in tho year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-seven, and the other
half on the first day of January, in the

dred and ninety-seven, with half yearly
coupons for an interest of six per cent, per
annum, beginning to run from the lirst day
of July, in the year of ow Lord one thou?

ORR, Governor and Commander-in-Chief
as aforesaid, do hereby call on all holders
of bonds issued under thc Act of eighteen
hundred and fifty-nine, now past due, and
upon all persons holding coupons past due,
or to whom interest is duo ?>n tho indebt?
edness above recited, to como forward and
receive, at tIto Treasury of thc State, in
lieu of the existing evidences of indebted?
ness in their hands, the bonds hereinabove
described-to tho payment of which and
the coupons attached, tho funds and faith
of the State aro pledged.

hereby called on so prefer, they may, upon
presentation of their claims at the Treasu?
