LOUISVILLE,'October 1.-The tobacco fac? tory, machin? shops and the foundry of the penitentiary at Jeffersonville, Indiana, were burned this morning. Hall, Moore A Miller, lessees of thc foundry, lost about $100-,000. The tobacco factory was leased by Mack St Sous, of Louisville. Their loss is" between $2UO,UO0 and $300,000. Superfine Hour $1L30. Bank sterling 58. Gold 46k ANOTHER LITTLE CHILD WHITPED TO DEATH FOR REFUSING TO SAY HER PRAYERS. Another case o* fatal child flogging-if possible more revolting in shocking details than the recent Lindsley child-murder in Medina, N. Y.-occurred at Sarnia, Cana? da, on Wednesday last, the child, in this instance, being a little girl fivo years of age, named hate Sibley, the illegitimate daughter ol Schuyler Sibley and a Miss Kate Davis., and tho alleged provocation leading to the cruel act being the refusal of the child to say its prayers. From the evidence . elicited at the inquest on the body of tho child, it appears that on the" night in question, the mother had beaten the child with a raw-ride for nearly an hour, and when rendered insensible by pain and loss of blood, thrust it into a chair and went to bed. For a time, tho child was heard to moan as if in intense agony, but soon became quiet, and nothing more was heard- until near morning, when a servant entering the room, found the child dead, and immediately gave thc alarm. Upon lifting the child from the floor, wh' re it had fallen, a most revolting sight was presented. The head, face and shoulders -.vc re scarred and discolored from the terrible blows of tho raw-hide, while the body, from head to foot, presented a shockingly mangled and bloody appear? ance. Old scars, scarcely healed, were also visible noon the body, testifying to former cruel floggings. ! he medical evi? dence showed that the injuries of the flog? ging were alone sufficient to produce death, but that serious internal injuries, the re? sult of kicks and blows, had previously been received; aud the entire absence of food for in any hours had also something to do with the result. Tho murderess, on being'esamiued, confessed that a few days previous to the fatal act, the father of thc child had administered to it a most unmer? ciful beating for not saying its prayers, and ordered her to do the same Whenever it refused.
