BOSTON, September ls.-A convention of
the soldiers and sailors i ' Massachusetts
was held in Fancuil Hall, to-day, for tho
purpose of adopting measures to secure the
equalization of all bounties to soldiers of
Massachusetts, and to secure to loy al men
and their posterity the fruits of tho late
war.
N. P. Banks was chosen President, and
among tho vice-Presidents were Generals
B. F. Butler and Bartlett. The Conven?
tion was addressed by Gen. Banks, and
the following resolution was adopted:

odious, anil that thc authors should be
punished. That in the name of our starved
and murdered brothers at Andersonville,
in the name of our slaughtered brothers
on every battle-field, in tho narnu of the
widows and orphans, in the'name of Amcri- I
car liberty anil American justice, we pro?
test against the pardon and release of Jef?
ferson Davis. We protest against the in?
sulting leniency that feasts and pampers a
blood-stained traitor, who should occupy a
?'(don's cell and live or dio on felon's fare;
and we demand that he be brought Co trial
for his crimes and treason without delay;
that he bu convicted, and that he be hung.
The convention chose delegates to the
Pittsburg Convention.

A Juhiuon Meeting ut Philadelphia.
PHILADELPHIA, September 17.-A large
mass meeting of tho friends of President
Johnson was held at Pennsylvania Square
this evening. William S. Price presided,
assisted by a number of prominent gentle?
men. Two stands were erected, and the
demonstration was a very large one.
About 10,000 persons participated in the
torch-light procession, and 20,000 were at
the meeting. Speeches were made bv
Judge Porter, William IL Wallace, Coi.
Charles J. Biddle, and others, at tho main
stand.
