There is an organization of freed?
men in this place whose olvjeet is to
ferret out and punish- crime muong
themselves. Upon learning tliat a'
negro horse-thief had passed through
the place, on Friday, a member of
the Organization put out iu pursuit
and soon had the thief in limbo, and
delivered him up to tho authorities.
Tho negro had a horse and buggy,"
which lias boen left here subject to
the demand of the" owner.
The same organization took up a
shop-lifter the other day aud, as the
proof was positive, they promptly
applied to him a dose of Moses' law.
Far better this than a provost court.
Very few darkies will risk a second
appearance before this body.

follows: Tall, spare-made man; groy eyes, I
of a peculiar, look; short, thick nose; low j
forehead; round, lean face; somewhat j
hump-shouldered; black hair, with a few ]
grey hairs; about thirty-seven years old;
weighs ahout 1-10 pounds: speaks ?lowly, j
and, when speaking, twists his month to
the right side; heavy, dark heard: hats
been wounded, as well as can be recol- !
looted, in tho right arm, near the elbow: >
with small and bony arms; wore dark coat ?
and dark linen pants. The above murderer
is a notorious scoundrel, and has recently, j
tu connection with a hand of negroes, been
engaged in Various other bloody outrages. !
The above reward will be paid for his j
