The Committee on City Schools present?
ed the following report:
Th? Committee on City Schools haVe been
very anxious to re establish the exercises
of one or both of them; but owing to the
scarcity of funds in the city treasury,, they
have tans far been deterred from any ac?
tion in tho promises. Your Committee
has recently learned that the State has
made an appropriation for the benefit of
tho Free Schools, and we would earnestly
recommend that the city co-operate with
the State, and, at least, carry on the school
to the extent of the appropriation.
Wo therefore recommend that tho Com?
mittee on Schools be authorized to appoint
a teacher, who shall open tho male school
from the 15th of September to the 15th of
December, 1866, (three months.) and for
which ho bo allowed $250 for the period
specified. Respectfully submitted.

chopping meats on the counters of thc
market, under a penalty of $2 for each tvnd

SEO. 14- No person shall smoko tobacco
within tho limits of the market, under a
penalty of $2 for each and every offence.
SEC." 15. Tho butchers, and their em?
ployees, will bo required to be cleanly
dressed and wear a white apron constant

penalty of $2 for each rind every day they
neglect to do so.
