since, from Halifax, by which route
he had come from Cuba and Mexico.

1864, notwithstanding his extensive
travels by horseback from Lynchburg

to Mexico and here, as stated. It
Will be gratifying to those who take
interest in the truth of history to
know that Gen. Early has written a
narrative of his operations during the
last year of the war, including his
services with General Lee's .army
from the Bap'dan to the James* and
his campaign into Maryland and in
. the Shenandoah Valley against She?
ridan. His manuscript is very nearly
ready for the press, and will make, .
exclusive of maps, an octavo pamphlet
. of about one hundred pages. Geno
ral Early, declining to make it a
source of profit, will publish it at his
? own expense, as a contribution to his?
tory. It will create a sensation, and
will be very readable.
. z The income of Augustus Hemen
. a way, of Boston, for 1865, was
$220,000. He does not enjoy it,
however, being a lunatic.

Arrest the Murderers !
AMOST DIABOLICAL, MURDER was
committed near the town of Chester,
ri. C., on the night of the 22d Jnlv, 1866,
upon the bodv of my brother, ALEXAN?
DER D. WALKER. The murderers-two
is number-were negroes, and are de?
scribed by those who ?aw them as follows:
One, copper color, rather stout, five feet
ten inches high, weighs about 165 pounds,
light clothes, 23 or 24 years old; light drab
hat, good shoes, had black carpet-bag.
The other, black complexion, slender,
five feet eight inches high, high cheek- I
bones, quiek of speech; dark ?Lothes, black j
bat, good shoes, 23 or 25 years old, weighs
about 140 pounds.
From the body ol their victim was taken
a watch, open-faced, rcUl oase sud dial. ,
English lever. James Moss, maker. Liver- i
pool, Mo. 5,208, with gold fob chain, three
or four strands curb, a gold locket, seal
and one or two plain rings attached; and |
from bis dwelling house, after the commis- i
sion of the murder, ono Colt's repeater,
tivc-ehootor, and several articles of cloth- j
ing. - j
The above negroes were each armed with j
a pistol, and said they were traveling with
a Mr. Owens, of Spartanburg.
The above reward will be paid for their
arrest, orator any information that will lead '
to the apprehension of the perpetrators ot :
so brutal and atrocious a murder. I
