A 8TRANGE STOBT.-T-A lady residing
in Campton, New Hampshire, re?
cently owned a dog, -which, because
of age and infirmity, had ceased to be
of use. One day, recently, she re?
marked to a laboring mau connected
with the family, that she would give
half .1 dollar if he would take the old
fellow off out of the way and kill
him. The servant promised to do so
if he might have the dog's skin, to
make therefrom, for his own use and
comfort, a pair of gloves. At this
stage in the conversation, the old
dog, who had been lying quietly upon
the hearth, arose, and giving the
con6piratois a look, more in sorrow
than iu anger, left the house. On
a rise of ground not far away he
stopped, aud gave a lingering gaze at
