were disposed of on Wednesday. The
Court adjourned until to-day:

FVeednmn.- Several witnesses testified
that the accused had been lurking about
tho premises of Mr. J. C. Walker, in the
suburbs of the city, for one or two days.
On Monday last, a double-barrel shot-gun,
a white blanket and a lot of clothing were
stolon from an ont-honse on Mr. Walker's
lot. The acoused was seen near there just
before the things were missing. He was
seen crossing the adjoining tields with a
long white bundle. Met one or two persons
and wished to know whore he could buy a
rooster. Has been lurking about Colum?
bia for the past two months. Never had
any home. Sentenced to thirty days of I
hard labor and to pay a tine of $10. ' |

violating a city ordinance, by selling spirits
and keeping * a disorderly house on the
Sabbath-day. Many witnesses were exam- j
ined, but the charges were not sustained,
and the defendant discharged.
United States vs. John Crabtree.- This I
was an action brought by a freedman,
through the bearer, for stealing a colt, at !
Gadsden, in this District. The proseen
trix failed to appear, but was represented j
by a white citizen, who proved nothing, j
